Masking Tape Roads - Indoor Play

A glorious heat wave, and the threat of a thunderstorm, has us playing inside, today. I'm ready though, with a plan, and about three dollars worth inexpensive masking tape (this is not a project for the Man of the House's supply of good quality tape).

Before the children got up this morning, I made a modest, masking tape road, with a small, construction paper park, for one of our Popsicle stick houses...

...using a couple Hot Wheel type cars to gauge the width.

After breakfast, I turned the tape, and construction plans, over to the children. We now have an entire neighborhood in the living room, and a road, that not only heads down the stairs...

...and into the family room...

...but loops back around...

...and crisscrosses...

...before climbing back up the stairs...

...and veering off to a tissue paper sea.

With two rolls of tape left, I think it's safe to predict long road delays, and busy children, for the rest of the day.

It's great to be a homeschooler.

We did this last week. My boys didn't make theirs quite as elaborate......

Love the idea! But we may have to bring it outside since we don't have carpeting. I've seen it done in smaller surfaces but spreading out looks so cool!
